Grade 9: Pregnancy and Parenting
The first step towards a pregnancy should be making thedecision to have a child. The decision-making process will include an assessment of parenting skills, understanding the day-to-day responsibilities of raising a child, financial burdens and support from family and friends. The aim of this lesson is to highlight these factors and impress upon teens the dramatic changes a pregnancy and birth would bring to their lives.

 

CALM: Pregnancy and Parenting Lesson 1
This lesson will ask students to think about the options available to pregnant teens and clarify each choice from a value neutral stance. Students will then be asked to evaluate what is involved when raising a child and the implications for each parent in the future.
